All work, no play?

Good morning!

Here’s just another example of how my life always ends up in contrasts – my new place is like a hobbit house!

So I spent half a year in Barcelona where life was mostly about play, my favourite language and sun. Where I adored my huge room and high ceilings and where I always had some extra time to read books, walk around, photograph and dance.

Now my base is Copenhagen where summer never happened. Here I am working 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. My house is one of those old houses with very low ceilings and is like a cosy little hobbit house. I don’t have much time to do other things and I will be studying in the evenings when the new semester starts next week. Life here is all about work and my little quality moments consist of reading the paper and listening to music. Simple as that. And I couldn’t be happier about it – I really love the place where I work and the things that I do. Work is the best part of my days here.. and no, my boss is not reading this. Haha

And of course there are Fridays and the staff bar with all the lovely and happy people from the UN House. But that’s just an additional part of the work-labeled time. :)

Have a great day!

Amadou et Mariam

After work today I met with my lovely colleagues and boss and we went to see Amadou et Mariam live at Malmö Festivalen. They are a blind musical duo from Mali and the music is something defined as afro-blues or afro-rock. They mix different styles and the result doesn’t allow you to stand still for a second! The show was great, we danced and had a really good time.. and Amadou & Mariam are WFP ambassadors that our boss in a way knows so we actually got to meet them after the concert! So nice.

Good night darlings!

Photos: Way Out West day 2

The second (or third if you count thursday) and last day of the Way Out West festival was great in terms of fundraising, people were really open to contributing and to have a chat so the team had a great time and I got a lot of video material for my little WFP-project. There weren’t as many must-see artists but Wiz Khalifa did a very energetic show and it was good fun to watch all the indie hipsters go all-in-gangsta, Jarvis Cocker from Pulp invited the whole audience for a beer “if you just take a sip and pass it on it will be enough for everybody, right?” and Kanye West was… well, he entered the show on a skylift and with a very dramatic expression on his face.. there was smoke.. golden rain.. insane fans fainting because they would be crushed in the crowd.. very violent dancers.. “I’ma need to see your fucking hands at the concert“.. and a lot of auto-tune. A very entertaining and good show indeed, but I can’t imagine anybody loving Kanye as much as Kanye loves himself.

I spent three beautiful days at the Way Out West festival in sunny Gothenburg. I was there representing WFP in the UN tent and it was good fun and a great experience, I am really happy I got the opportunity to join. And the festival? A really good vibe, beautiful people, fantastic performances by, among many others, Janelle Monáe, Fleet Foxes, Santigold, Robyn, Kanye West and.. Prince. Seriously, Prince pulled off the best show I have ever been to. No doubt. He owned it and we all loved it.. and when the Purple Rain fell people were delirious with euphoria. I still am.

Here are some photos from friday. You’ll get the rest soon, I have a job to wake up to tomorrow! :) Goodnight.

6.30 am – dance!

My DSPS was just a matter of choice. I still love and prefer nights, but I have managed to prove to myself that it is possible to go to sleep at 10pm and wake up at 6am. Now it’s just a matter of being able to stay in that rhythm throughout the coming months. And in the dark, dark winter.

Anyhow, now it’s 6.30am and I’m so fresh n so clean, clean! And very very eager to dance my way to the WFP office in a couple of hours. Can you imagine? I have time to take it easy before work! That’s just golden.

The picture above says “Dance!” in Polish – today I urge you all to do so. I love people who dance in public without caring who’s watching, I mean, nobody probably cares anyway – and if they do, you might just have made their day a little bit more interesting.

Gah, I’m in such a cheesy mood! But that’s okay this early in the morning. Good morning!
