We’ll never be like them – No one is like we are.

“I’m waking up and remain in bed. I can feel you breathing. The whole world is awake, you’re shutting off. Will this become easier some day? This is where I want to be, although I shouldn’t. Come a little closer. I can see you thinking that you should leave..

Please just turn around, give me something to dream about, we’ll never be like them..

No one is like we are. People all around but. No one is like we are. All we know. No one is like we are. High above the ground. No one is like we are. And so what? No one is like we are. And you are just like me. No one is like we are. I’m of another kind. No one is like we are. It’s never going to be like it’s supposed to. No one is like we are..

I’m waking up in a different city. Where I’m not supposed to be. I’m imagining how it all could be. This heat is making me weak. Nobody knows that you’re just like me. Stay a little longer. I’m saying your name but I get no response.

No one is like we are!

Little Jinder & Melo – Inga e som vi e (2014)

Listening to the pink, fluffy and very high pitched love duet by Little Jinder and Melo. The video is continuing on the satirical and stereotype pushing wave that Swedish pop lately has been riding, and it’s all just sugar-coated and cheesy enough to create a double-negative and turn the experience into something beautiful. I believe. And then there’s of course the sincere looking making-out session, and the high quality video and light, accompanied by, again, overly cheesy editing. You know that wonderful, warm, sunny bubble that turns you into an irrational, giggling, emotional and constantly overwhelmed fuzzball? Yes, that one. Even the video manages to capture the sweet absurdity of it, and Little Jinder explains further in an interview with the magazine Nöjesguiden:

“A lot of your music, and this video, seems to be about capturing a certain feeling. Is this song about being super-duper mega in love?”

“- Exactly. I think it’s interesting how you just “lose it” when you feel very strongly for other people, both negatively and positively. This particular song highlights the need of creating a bubble that can maintain the conviction that what you feel is totally unique and very, very right.”

Little Jinder

And me? I got late for the dinner I was getting dressed for when this song started playing on my streaming radio. The urge to flow around, sing along, and press repeat was too strong to ignore, and I was filled with a feeling of love for the world, happiness for finding time to cultivate my work-out endorphins, and just.. calm. Then I got dizzy from spinning around and realized I should get going, so I threw on my long black dress, painted my lips red to match my freshly bruised knuckles, and jumped into the car.

Danza Revelation Belize – Meet the gang.

Danza Revelation

“How you feelin’ my Revelationaries?” “Awoogah!!” “I caan’t hear yooou!” “AWOOOOOGAH!!”

Cricel Castillo is our mountain of energy. The dancer, turned fitness freak, turned body building diva leads her Danza Revelation classes the way you would want all fitness instructors to be, with insane amounts of positive energy, always pushing it to the limit, always encouraging, and with a new surprise in each and every class. Sometimes we do special event Danza, such as the time when the room was left dark and Cricel brought in a DJ with disco lamps to play for us in a nightclub athmosphere. She has designed the programme herself, and you can instantly tell she loves her sexy choreographies as much as we do, and that she does is as part of her own work out routine. We’ve become a gang, there’s no doubt about it. We even have our own Whatsapp group where we share photos and shout-outs of awesomeness. And we hug.

If you’re in Belize City and would like to join us, it’s easy: Wednesdays at 17.30, Body 2000, upstairs. It’s only 10BZD per class plus a one-time 5BZD registration fee, and you don’t even need to pay or register for the gym. Then there’s of course also the The Revelation Bootcamp on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5am in the BTL park – which is another Cricel-designed adventure but way too early for my face. She does occasionally have a bootcamp in the weekends though, and last time was SO MUCH FUN. There’s going to be one on Saturday August 30th at 7am, so I’ll try to get up for that one. Come join!

Anyway, enough text – here are some visual goodies. Awoooogah!

Goals and Goddesses

Can you have a beautiful piece of music along with an awesome video promoting girl empowerment? Yes, yes, yes! UNICEF Namibia and #TeamUNICEF have done an awesome job here.

“This video for the song ‘Goddess’ by up and coming US artist BANKS was inspired by UNICEF’s work on promoting children’s rights through sport and play and the Galz and Goals programme in Namibia which helps disadvantaged adolescent girls make healthy decisions on and off the playing field.
Most of the girls who take part in Galz and Goals come from vulnerable families experiencing lots of social challenges. Indeed, many of the scenarios in the film are real challenges the respective girls have had to overcome in their own lives. Filmed on location in Windhoek, Namibia – including the Katutura township where the football scenes were filmed.

My home in Belize City – Can you hear the Caribbean breeze?

So, according to tradition, I made a video-tour of my apartment – this time in Belize City.

As I showed you before, it was already furnished when I moved in. I did remove the ugly TV and move the furniture around a little, but I still need to get curtains and a living room table.. and some nice art for my walls!

Anyhow – I really like my new place, and the fact that it’s all mine, that I can host a lot of people without issues (the couch is also a bed!) and that I can dance around and make juices and just enjoy – and the breeze.. ah, the breeze! (I have hurricane windows installed for that breeze by the way, I might not be as happy about it in the coming weeks when the real winds and rains come. haha)

Oh, and I missed the balcony – it’s behind the door by the kitchen and a good spot for sunset-watching, clothes-drying and wine-drinking. I just need a hammock and some furniture there.

So – what do you think?

Here’s a nostalgia tour of my previous homes:

Copenhagen – The hobbit houseMaputo – And the never-ending staircaseManagua – The house with a gym

Why do I do this? Because I forget. Because I change surroundings so often that I don’t remember the details of them.. and because I wish I had a video of my apartment (and roomies!) in Warsaw, or the apartment we lived in in Malmö when I was little.. and because I guess I will be living in quite a few places in my life, so I might as well make a collection. I hope this is fun for you as well, it’s like you’re visiting me in my space. Welcome.

Which reminds me that I somewhere in Sweden have a photo album of the cars I have owned.. the white Suzuki definitely needs to go in there! (I’m a memory hoarder. haha)

Love Never Felt So Good!

Michael Jackson ft. Justin Timberlake – Love Never Felt So Good (2014)

Heard this in a grocery store here in Belize City the other day.. and today the official video for the Jackson + Timberlake track was released. This whole thing about really talented dancers, diversity and happy people never gets boring now, does it? Brilliant!
