Last day at the UN House

Today is my last day here in the UN House in Copenhagen. New adventures are around the corner – I will tell you more about them after bubbles and dancing.

See you later. ;)

Evaluating, closing, summing up everything and writing guides to leave a legacy behind. Tomorrow is my last day in this office, and I have learnt tons.

Now I am quietly waiting for the catastrophe of my personality
to seem beautiful again, and interesting, and modern. The country is grey and brown and white in trees,
snows and skies of laughter always diminishing,
less funny not just darker, not just grey.It may be the coldest day of the year,
what does he think of that?I mean, what do I?
And if I do, perhaps I am myself again.Frank O’Hara – Mayakovsky

We have spent evenings and nights watching the Mad Men series and commenting out loud on little details in everything from cinematography to clothing and the very authentic sets. We are at the second season now and going strong, the last couple of days we have left. Good times indeed, and they will be missed.

Hanging out with my jackalope sisters, I will miss them tons!
To all of you who have been wondering what a jackalope is – I just spent half an hour drawing one.
And the cross on my wrist is just a mark from yesterday’s dancing – not a bad tattoo.

Let me introduce my home here in Copenhagen. I call it the hobbit house because of the low ceilings. It’s cosy and beautiful and it takes me about four minutes to get to work, I couldn’t have wished for a better place during these six months. Anyway, here’s a video tour, with a glimpse of my bike in the end.
I live in a historic row house district called Nyboder. It was planned and first built by the Danish king Christian IV to accommodate the personnel of the Royal Danish Navy and their families. The construction of the houses started in 1631 and their yellow colour is often referred to as “Nyboder yellow”. When people ask me where I live, I just say “the yellow houses” and the question I then always get is whether I’m part of the Royal Danish Defence. I’m not, but my housemate is which is why I can live in this great place anyway.. and why we have cartridge boxes and other random army things at home.
I will only live here for a couple of days more, then I’m off to warmer places. I’m actually happy the snow came now, it’s pretty.

Kødbyen, Copenhagen – I love you!

The jackalope sisters shall dance tonight.

Oh my lovely, lovely jackalope sister. I just want to stay in Copenhagen and watch Mad Men and dance the goblindance for one more month. Or we’ll just do a lot of Skype dates, long distance Mad Men marathons and continue dancing when we meet again.
The time of goodbye’s has come, filled with nostalgia, hugs and the realisation of how awesome people are and how missed they will be.
And the box I found on my desk this morning? I assume you see the little text: Simply Chocolate. Awesome chocolate.

My housemate gave me a Moleskine yesterday before leaving for a trip. Today is my last Friday in Copenhagen, Tuesday is my last day at work. Then I have a few days to move and pack before I’m off to spend hours in airplanes, buses and places I have not yet thought of. I don’t know what to expect and I don’t want to know either, I’m going to a new place and it deserves to be treated that way.
No matter how things end up, I have Moleskines full of empty pages and an iPod filled with soundtracks for future memories.
