Tired and dirty in Budva, Montenegro. Hello room and shower! Couchsurfing Stavri in Tirana was the best guide we could have ever wished for, thank you!

Hello Albania! We’re on our way to Tirana now in a little minivan playing Albanian eurotechno, the heat is crazy but the views are amazing!

So we went from Prishtina to Skopje.

We found the best hostel ever named hostel hostel, it was a house with a really nice garden, free soup and real breakfeast. And we got a great deal on the price as well as I was being stubborn as always.. haha.. Nice!

We walked around Skopje and spent the night. The next morning we rebooked our tickets to Ohrid and took a bus to Shutka. Shutka is a kind of a suburb to Skopje where there are only gypsies. We walked around and took heaps of pictures, it was really interesting and all the paranoia about pickpocketing kids was just fake rumours as always.

Later we took the 4 hour bus to beautiful Ohrid. We kind of accidently found the greatest and cheapest apartment ever right next to the main square and the lake. 24euro/night. And the best streetfood three minutes away. Let’s do this budget-style!

Ohid is a really beautiful place, it’s filled with people, the water is clear, the weather is perfect.. things are good!

Too bad these computers are so slow.. I dont think I will be able to upload pictures before getting home.. I’m struggling with the “backup to USB”-part enough.. However, I can ensure you that you have great ones to look forward to!

So yeah, we’re probably staying here for three nights.. then we’re off to Albania!

Ohrid is amazingly beautiful and our apartment is perfect! One step from the main square and two from the beach! Love it

A bus from Belgrade took us to Kosovska Mitrovica.

It left us on the serbian side of the city and the busdriver was going crazy about the fact that our plan was to cross the bridge (oh my god, you are not crossing the bridge!!) to Kosova.. as if it was the craziest thing ever.. we didn’t really care, we are not serbs and we don’t have any reasons to freak out about going to Kosovo.

So, the problem was not the rain that poured down or the fact that we got dropped off in the middle of a random anonymous road in the middle of nowhere.. the problem was that we couldn’t find any taxidriver that wanted to take us to the other side of The Bridge. There was a police-car guarding it.. and nothing else. The taxidrivers we stopped just went ”oh oh, no no.. I don’t go south.” and drove off. Some hyped-up serbs eventually found us a taxidriver in a yellow car named Albani that they kind of forced to drive us to the busstation on the other side.. he didn’t want to.. he looked genuinely scared, took his seatbelt on.. and we went over.. slowly.

I don’t freak out about things like this since I know that I’m not a target, but 40year old men looking scared and calling me crazy kind of got to me and I wondered how much of a danger we had actually put ourselves into.. it was after all a warzone.. not.

We crossed and got to another world. Mitrovica. It was chaotic, filled with people, kosova flags, shiny cars and horses on the main street. I loved it from the back seat of my taxi, taking heaps of pictures. Unfortunately the taxi driver didn’t find the city safe for us, it was getting late and the bus for Prishtina was already leaving. He took us to the busstiation, we jumped on, waved sad bye-bye’s to Mitrovica and drove off for a 3hour ride that cost us 1,5euro.

Prishtina was great. The people in Kosova are extremely nice and we met a really nice guy who showed us around and talked about his music-channel and the vip parties of Kosova. We stayed at the four star Hotel Begolli that was really nice costing close to nothing, had a pizza in the center, walked around, took pictures and spoke to people. One evening and one morning was enough for Prishtina, we walked in the direction of the bus-station, met a guy that drove us there.. (always wanted to try that!) and went on.. to Skopje, Macedonia.

I’ll write more some other day.. now we’re going back out to enjoy beautiful Ohrid.

Pizza in Pristina! Its rainy and cold, but the kosovare are nice enough to warm any place up.. Skopje tomorrow!

We just crossed the bridge in Kosovska Mitrovica from the Serbian side. Chaos.

Im way too tired to upload pictures and things right now, and the internetconnection is (as wonderfully always) way too slow anyway.

We are, however, in the capital of Serbia right now.

Yesterday we spent some hours  in beautiful Budapest and then took the overnight train here. What we didnt know was that there is a massive music festival (exit) in Novi Sad right now.. so the train was completely packed with drunk, happy, dancing brits that didnt get their seats as the train was doublebooked..  Luckily, we found two places, and sure, we didnt get to sleep as planned.. but we got to watch a very interesting 7hour show about the decadence of humanity.. haha

So we finally got to Belgrade, exhausted but happy. Found our hostel, and ran out to explore. Hours and hundreds of pictures later we found our way back to our beds. After that we explored some Bgd by night, and now were back.

As I said. There are pictures.. tons of them. Ill promise to share when I find a better computer.

There was a night in late 2006, when me and Josie walked the streets of Warsaw, singing bits and pieces from the Destiny’s Child album the writings on the wall.. it’s a great album that I had totally forgotten about by now. Funny how taste in music changes, I love the fact that nostalgia can take you right back to the point where you actually loved these songs.
