He was homeless. Most times you don't need to go far at all to make a difference in the world. There's people just around you that need you too. At least myself I am called to make a difference in my very own city. Regarding Michael Jackson, It was 2 a.m. here when my mother told me about it, just 3 hours after his very death. Never I felt the loss of an artist so much. I was 5 when Michael Jackson scared the shit out of me with his super zombies music video "Thriller". I don't know if you can consider it a tribute to him or rather pretty sad that now that he's dead he seems to be getting more fans than before.
